Warning: this post deals with some heavier psychological topics and dark fictional elements. Everything here is totally fictional.
Running Commentary — Morning Milkshake, final
Jennie:
I. They Are Much Smaller Good! It would be troublesome if they were bigger than eggs.
II. Wah Daebak How do you even know this "daebak" expression?
III. Look at How Far You've Come, Dr Yeon I also praise Dr Yeon's developed social skills.
IV. Mr Ahn's Eyes Widened as His Jaw Dropped My jaw also dropped to my thighs (from liking it so much).
V. You're My Most Corrupting Influence Originally, among all angels, "fallen angels" are the sexiest.
VI. But Years of Baku and Gotak Could Have Laid the Foundation After living high school life together for over 2 years, I don't think they never watched porn together once hahaha.
VII. He Can Also Talk About the Most Brutal Things Without Effort and Without Warning Oh... How can we handle these two considerate puppies?
VIII. Mr Ahn Saw the Dimming of Dr Yeon's Eyes It's been 13 years already, but both still know well that it's still the worst nightmare for Dr Yeon — there will be no worse nightmare until death. The foreshadowing of our dark arc.
IX. Why On Earth Do You Want to Know That Dr Yeon, everyone probably wants to know that question.
X. He Saw It All in His Father's Face Si-eun's parents can't really be called bad parents. Compared to Suho's irresponsible parents and Beomseok's adoptive father, who can't be called a parent, Si-eun's parents can't really be called bad. Their biggest problem was making Si-eun do self-parenting, and both were too obsessed with their careers to have the leisure to look into their son's inner world, who might have had slight neurodevelopmental issues. I also think in the original work, Si-eun clearly read his father's disappointment about his weak physical strength. Moreover, he couldn't help but be worried yet disappointed in a son who even fainted, especially since he was even an Olympic medalist.
XI. But with Suho, at Last Si-eun Felt Sufficient Among all the noodles of gochu jabchae you made this time, every one is delicious, but this sentence, this noodle was the most beautiful.
XII. You're Always My First I just picked the best noodle sentence but immediately changed it to this hahaha. So romantic, so very romantic. I AM SOLD.
XIII. How Can He Be So Direct Sometimes That's what I'm saying. And so lovable.
XIV. Suho Didn't Mind That It Smelled Rather Unwashed With my personal character interpretation, Suho would be really clean. Working at a charcoal meat restaurant, always smelling like meat, he probably cared about that, and he really hated cigarette smell. That's probably why he didn't smoke — he hated the smell, and economically he wouldn't smoke considering the money that goes into cigarettes. There's a brick theory that he'd like going to the laundromat.
XV. The Anime Club In our deluluverse, that tiny cubicle became Suho and Si-eun's secret dating spot after the coma. Hehe, they probably had mood lighting on then too.
XVI. Si-eun's Hair Fell Over His Eyebrows Right, in the actual original work too, Si-eun's bangs covered his eyes much more in Eunjang high.
XVII. I Like Your Braces A certain "specific real photo" immediately came to mind. With rose-coloured blush on both cheeks. Probably my favourite photo among the actual actor's photos. He said he liked the braces, but in the deluluverse, high schooler Si-eun also wanted to touch that rose-coloured blush — the vitality emanating from a child who gained a second life after the post-coma. So lovable.
XVIII. Si-eun's Essence The poetic expression warms my heart. (There's no reason for Si-eun to make shakes himself either.)
XIX. Dragon Ball Z Volume 2 Jun-tae and his otaku crew's precious property found supremely worthy application hahaha.
XX. Kindaichi Oh, it's called Kindaichi here. Here it's called Kim Jeon-il.
XXI. You Really Never Made Any Before That If it was Si-eun from that time, I fully think he wouldn't have tried making any before. The fact that Suho is Si-eun's every first makes me feel like milk is being made somewhere in my heart hahaha.
XXII. My Friend Does So funny I flipped over!!
XXIII. It Stripped Him And Dr Yeon himself would also willingly want his reputation, achievements, and armour to be willingly stripped in front of Suho. Suddenly that line came to mind. What Si-eun said to Baekjin in the original: "Only Humin knows everything about you."
XXIV. With Suho, Everything Was Personal How can a sentence be this sexy? If I knew the words I memorized from TOEFL vocab 1000 could dance such a passionate Latin dance like this — I should have read more English novels earlier!!!
XXV. It Made Suho Want to Hug Him Yes, Mr Ahn, hug Dr Yeon a lot. Before the upcoming trials (laughs like a demon).
XXVI. What Newton? Who Is Newton I really laughed hard at this part. I could even imagine Suho's expression getting serious and saying "Who???" hahaha.
XXVII. Secret Hypocrites Yeah, me too. Kind of felt that way.
XXVIII. Byeoksan High's Staff Toilet So that's the sticky business behind that shower scene.
XXIX. It's Made Me Who I Am Right, if he had sticky business several times a day, it would have been a bit difficult for Si-eun to get into the top medical school. Hmm, reasonable, haha.
XXX. But He Would Eat Whatever Suho Chose It's also consideration for Suho, and there was also the interpretation that even as an adult, Si-eun isn't much of a gourmet and has a small appetite. In some brick theories, he'd never become a big eater. Not much interest in food either. Still, he probably would have taken a bite of food Suho likes at least once. "Because Suho likes it."
XXXI. Another Two Inches I don't think so. This is inherited. From parents. I'd love to tell Si-eun that size is irrelevant. What matters is how sweetly you show yourself to the one who means everything to you.
XXXII. Maybe That's Why He Gives More Than Me Every Time Actually, the answer is simple. Because he likes Suho so much.
It Should Be Baseball
J: Ah Asuka, my 2nd thought — it should be 'baseball' not 'football.'
Picture Suho when his puppy isn't around — completely melting into the couch, drowsy eyes following those endless baseball games to wind down the day. But when his puppy's there? He'd rest his face on the puppy's lap, dozing off like bread slowly toasting in the oven while watching dawn baseball. After making sure Suho's completely out, Dr Yeon would lie down right beside him on that cramped sofa and drift off too. For that to work, you'd need games lasting 2+ hours. Baseball is absolutely perfect.
Serious HAHA Jen, wanting Saturday night forever.
Weekend Destroyer, Weekend Saviour
J: "And he will kick this acknowledgement into Suho's skull again if need be..."
Asuka, you're definitely my weekend destroyer who's also my saviour. I'm going to sleep imagining how the kid will kick "this acknowledgement" into Suho's skull with those bigger, broader feet of his — what a happy weekend, it couldn't get any better than this.
Jen.
Cooking Spicy Food in a Japanese Restaurant
Asuka: Hi Jennie, thanks so much for your appreciation as always, and such a sincere, effusive, and insightful commentary.
I have to appear backstage in 4 hours so I can't talk much, but I need to know — were you picturing dear Park Jihoon in his defenseless bed poses for that September photoshoot? (My phone is stuffed full of photos from that like some deranged stalker hahahaha) Ah that boy…
Yes some of those photos were the inspiration for this gochu jabchae. Of course so was the photo of Choi Hyunwook in his braces. That glittering smile gleamed its way into my central nervous system and won't be purged.
The majority of this pot was made at a bar seat in a fine, darkly lit Japanese restaurant, over a large pot of houjicha. The head chef would have never known someone else was cooking something quite spicy right in his establishment. It gave me quite a kick to be honest hahaha.
Asuka, off to prep.
Who is Jennie? Bricklayer. Local correspondent for the Yeon Clinic deluluverse. A sous chef who checks whether the soup actually tastes like Seoul. A specialist who designs this kitchen to hold more than Suho's coma — philosophy, history, society, culture, stacked one recipe at a time.
Who is Asuka? Head nurse and main chef of the Yeon Clinic. A Scheherazade who sings the Song of Achilles she found shelved next to a book on Zen Buddhist masters. Fluent in several languages, conversant in single malts and the precise emotional damage of Weak Hero Class 1. Signs off as ASL. (Always starch linen.)
This free ebook will ruin you. In the best way. A character analysis of Si-eun, Su-ho and Beom-seok that goes beyond what subtitles can carry. Take it — it's free → DOWNLOAD HERE
